[C320-list] Exhaust hose

Paul,

Are you sure those stains on the front of your engine cover aren't from the
belts? I'm pretty sure that is what you are seeing. They naturally will
throw off dust as they wear away while using.

Scott,
Thanks. You are correct. It is the hose that connects the coolant pump to
the heat exchanger.
It does sit  "above the main shaft pulley" and to the left of the
alternator. I went to the boat
today and confirmed that. The reason I was asking is that I have exhaust
stains on my front
engine cover and was trying to figure out where the exhaust leak is/was. A
couple weeks ago
I pulled the exhaust hoses, replaced one and repaired another. My mission
today was to replace
that hose if it was for exhaust. Once I figured out it was for water I took
a time out. Started the
engine, looked/listened for leaks and couldn't find one. Couldn't smell any
either. So, for now
I think I am good to go.

I have the Yanmar parts catalog for this engine at home and should be able
to look it up later today.  However I'm confused by your description.  My
initial reaction is that this must be the hose on the front of the engine
that connects the coolant pump to the heat exchanger (which sits on top of
and could be confused with the exhaust manifold).  But then I realized you
said "above the flywheel."  The flywheel is not visible externally, and is
at the aft end of the engine.  Did you mean "above the main shaft pulley?"
Can you see the hose in question in this picture:

The coolant pump is just behind, and driven by, the topmost pulley in this
picture, using the same belt that drives the alternator.
