[C320-list] MK II Knocking

Do you mean the shaft log is 18" long? The shaft is more like 5 feet.

Sorry to hear about the window, but it's a boat and it will dry out. I
always worry that I am going to leave those ports open. Of course for me it
will happen when I am hosing out the cockpit.........

John,

Our dealer was in touch with Gerry D. and the dealer told me that the shaft
is about 18 inches long and 1" in diameter. The shaft tunnel is 1 1/4" so
that gives you about 1/8" clearance all the way around. Our dealer's
engineer (Larry) re-aligned the engine and it's working fine at the 18-2200
rmp level now. Hope yours goes well too.

Unfortunately, he left the aft cabin portlight above the hanging locker open
and the area had 3" of rain the following night. I found 2" of standing
water on the aft cable sole and water in the bottom of the cedar locker and
the bench locker. The bench cushion was full of water as well. We brought
that home and are trying to dry it out. The cushion cover is stapled on,
not zippered. We are not sure if the "leatherette" is breathable and what
kind of foam was used in the cushion.

Always something....

We still love the boat - the way it sails!!

I am one of the MKII owners who thought I had avoided the knocking problem.
Unfortunately, last weekend when I let the engine run at speeds I had
avoided where I do have a shaft vibration, I found that I also had the
knock. I am hoping that when I get around to aligning the engine the knock
goes away.

What has happened with the knocking that you were experiencing when under
way?

Our new 320 (#1158) came with a binder of literature from Ocean Marine. It
included the elec. toys. BTW, we love the boat. It sails beautifully.

They are the folks that install the pods for Catalina and they also provide
the Raymarine eqpt to Catalina on a 'exclusive' contract...

Again, not sure if this is Catalina-wide or if it's a given size and up...
