[C320-list] Air-conditioning problem

Hi Ronnie,

Can't comment on the Chesapeake but our 16K BTU worked well in the Milwaukee
area on Lake Michigan. Once about five years ago it was 100 degrees at the
lakefront. Very rare. The humidity was high also. The water was somewhere
in the mid 70s and our AC had no problem cooling the boat to 70 degrees.
Our boat now sits in Lake Mead, Nevada. The middle of the Mojave desert.
120 degrees for the air Temp.is not uncommon. 5-10% humidity, 84 degree
water temp and the interior of the boat with the AC running continuously is
75 degrees. When the sun sets and the temps drop into the upper 90s the AC
will cylce and hold 65 degrees easily. This is probably the one of the most
extreme tests for this boat / AC combination in the US and it still provides
reasonable cooling.

Like I said I cannot comment on boat cooling on the Chesapeak but it seems
all who have responded are happy with the 16K BTU units. I'm kind of
curious how the 16K unit works in Texas with 100 degree temps and equally
high humidity.

Whatever direction you go, if it's hot where you sail you will sail alot
more if at the end of the day you can power up the AC and cool down the
boat.
