I would suggest to him to go on the 470 list...SSB is really a more appropriate choice for a 'cruiser' boat and not for coastal sailboat such as a 320...

Also, go to www.sea-tech.com they are very helpful when it comes to SSB installs..

A friend of mine who owns a Catalina 400 is interested in installing a SSB radio. The 40 list is not very active so he asked me of any 320 owners would have any advise on installation of one of these radios.

I have no clue, so am just throwing this out there to see what responses we may get.
