Was this a brand new boat? Is so, wouldn't the warranty cover all of these
issues?

I am about to replace my anchor light (burned out by a defective battery
charger just after delivery). I want to do all that I can to avoid connector
corrosion down the road. A home lighting dealer taught me a trick of putting
a dab of Vaseline on the base of a floodlight to avoid later corrosion and
sticking in the socket. That has worked well at home for years. Do you think
it is a good idea for an anchor light? Is WD40 a better idea? Also, any
thoughts on LEDs for anchor lights would be appreciated.

Hi Nick,

Use a pencil eraser like Bruce suggests for the pins. The female
connection is harder and may require rolling up a tiny piece of 400 grit
sand paper and spinning it around in the sockets. Then spray the connection
with good-ole' WD-40 to prevent corrosion, shed water and enhance the
electrical conductivity.
