Didn't you know, there's a port list on the 320's...put em on the starboard
side to compensate...

I have the Chelsea "Shipstrike" model Clock and Barometer on the mahogany
stand on my desk at home. If I installed them on the boat I would have to
relocate both 4D batteries to the port side.

Thanks for all of the suggestions--I had considered the backing plate
method, but it sounds like the correct length of screws will work--I have
the Chelsea models and they are a bit heavy but it sounds like they will be
fine with the small diameter screws I will need to use...Thanks again for
all of the suggestions!

The screws that come with the Weems & Plath set are about 1/4 inch long. The
bulkhead between the forward birth and the salon is two sheets of wood with
an air space in between. All you need is a pilot hole for each screw in the
appropriate locations. Take a piece of rigging tape and wrap it around your
drill bit for about 1/8 inch of depth and drill very slowly. A hand drill or
palm drill works fine. Drill to the tape mark on the bit and you have all
the whole you need for a self-threading screw in wood. Start with a small
bit. Hard to make the whole smaller if you start too big.

QM,

I used short screws to mount my Weems and Plath instruments to the aft side
of the teak veneered wall between the salon and the fwd berth. I don't know
how long they were but they didn't come thru. They were quite short,
probably 3/8". I can measure them if you want.
