Brian,

You can furl either way. It's just a matter of reversing your furling line
on the drum--

Subject: [C320-list] Furler Direction Change

Bear is packed away for the interminable Canadian winter and so I need to
turn to those with a greater than single season relationship with their 320
for furler information.

I have ordered a new 135% headsail from Doyle, and they have the original
150% for repair. The loft reports that there is a disjunct between how I
claim the boat works and what the loft has found. According to the repair
people, the 150% is showing multi-year deterioration because although the
Dacron UV strip is on the starboard side of the sail, the furler has been
rolling clockwise for some years; leaving the port side of the sail exposed
and the UV strip safely protected from the sun. I had ordered the 135% with
a starboard UV.

The loft is telling me that the UV for the new sail is not yet installed and
they have a hold on it until I make a decision. Changing the UV to port will
protect the new sail, but the 150% will continue to deteriorate when left on
the foil. I could also pay to have the old UV removed from the 150% and have
a new one installed on the port side.

The question: Can the Schaefer furling system be modified in place to roll
up counter clockwise? This would allow the UV on the 150% to finally begin
doing its job and I could tell Doyle to go ahead and install the UV for the
135% on the starboard side. This is the least expensive solution, if
possible.

With appreciation in advance for any insight provided;
