Brian and all,

Have't heard anyone come straight on at this one so here goes. Everyone is
correct, the furler does't know or care which way it rotates. It only knows
which side you installed the furling line on. I think we would be hard
pressed to find a C320 with the furling line running down the starboard
side. Typically the furling line is on the side feeding directly on the
drum, thus on a 320 a counter clockwise furl. Since Brians UV strip is sewn
to starboard, it was intended to have a counter clockwise furl. I suspect at
some time someone replaced the furling line and forgot which side it came
off of when thy got back from West Marine, or a power boat mechanic rerigged
it after a move. New sail should furl counter clockwise as did the original
sail (I hope) did at one time. The boats rigging info from Catalina should
reflect this info. if you have it Brian. Enough of the diatribe, I wish I
was on Catalina Island instead of in a flight simulator all week doing
recurrent training. They need these for boats.

Jeff,

The change in angle is only as much as the width of the drum, so it's not
enough to matter--however with optimum angle you will get slightly less
resistance...

Wouldn't you have to run the furling line down the opposite side of the boat
in order to have it enter the drum at the correct angle?

  Furler will go both ways.
