[C320-list] Resealing companionway hood

Hi Jon,

Yes, you probably should remove it if you can. They accumulate a lot of
junk and dirt back in there, and if you're going to reseal it, why not clean
that out in the process?

Also, I'd suggest that while the hood is off, take your hatch cover off, and
clean the underside of the hatch with some acetone (where it slides on the
rails) install that UHMW tape to the underside of the hatch itself.

The way the factory installs it, you have to use a narrow piece that is
easily snagged and peeled up, whereas on the hatch, you could use a wider
piece that would always have pressure holding it in place. Rockler or other
woodworkers stores have rolls of this for table-saw fences and other uses.

Subject: [C320-list] Resealing companionway hood

Looking for any advice on resealing the hood that covers the companionway
hatch. The silicone has shrunk and needs to be replaced. I'm assuming it's
just a matter of scraping the old off and using a quality white silicone
(suggestions??) as this is not a load bearing rebed. Should I remove the
piece for any reason before resealing? Thanks in advance for any advice you
have.

Regards,
