Those are probably Garheur units, they are very good at replacing them....it's NOT a salt water corrosion problem, the 'teeth' on some of the older models wear out, their new design prevents that...call the Garheur folks in San Dimas, they are quite helpful....

I'm pretty sure most manufacturers take into consideration that 'some' of their gear will usually find its way to a boat that's in salt water for most of their life....

The rope clutches we use for the mainsheet and the main halyard will not 
stay flat forward and allow the lines to run free.  One of these clutches is 
in a 3 clutch unit on the port cabin top and the other is in a 2 clutch unit 
on the starboard cabin top.
I suppose it is just old age since the boat is 13 years old although litely 
used until recent years.
Has anyone experienced this problem and found a repair or replacement 
solution?
There is no brand name or mfg'r noted on the units.
