>From the picture at the Carhauer web page, it would appear that you cannot 
pass the eye of a mooring line though the middle of the cleat and then 
around the horns to get a really secure attachment of a line with an eye 
splice.  You can that with the Schaefer cleat.  This is not important 
probably unless, like me, you like to preset your morning lines so all you 
have to do is put the eye splices at ends of the mooring lines through the 
cleats for really quick tying up after a returning to the dock.
