Hi

Stops snow piling up especially in the cockpit, reduces staining/scouring 
from dirt and dust trapped in snow and ice.  Reduces ice damage (expansion 
and contraction) at joints and seams.  Permits working on the boat in the 
winter (it gets really warm under the cover on sunny days)
