Bob,

It is all about cost...I noticed a couple of boat reviews recently where a
standard mast was an extra $$ option over the standard in mast furler???

Why do most manufacturers go with in mast rather than in boom  
furling?  Cost?
I'd think boom furling superior because if the furler jams I'd still  
be able to drop the sail and secure it far better than I could if a  
mast furler jammed.
