[C320-list] dreaded winterization

Bill,
I by-passed the water heater on my 320 MKII last fall - it was an ordeal very much as described below! I started out by removing the drawer frame and the drawer assembly from the galley sink cabinet to make access a little better (still very difficult to get at) and then disconnected the water heater from the fiberglass pedestal on which it was mounted (about 8 screws, as I recall). I was then able to slide the water heater part way out of the cabinet and rotate it a bit so that I could see what I was doing. The bypass fitting was easy to install on the inlet side - my biggest problem was rearranging the outlet side of the water heater. I finished up by installing an elbow into the heater outlet and then manuevering the rest of the hose connection from there.
Everything has worked fine since then, with one small exception - the new elbow fitting at the heater outlet leaks slightly, and the water drains slowly down to the bilge - causing both the bilge pump and the water pressure pump to cycle now and then. Irritating, but not critical!
This Fall I am hopeful that I will get up enough nerve to open that cabinet up again and see if I can get that elbow at the heater properly sealed and water-tight.
