[C320-list] Catalina Custom Exhaust Elbow

We are in our 11th season with Boomerang hull 124. It had 1100 hours and it
was only 4 years old when I bought it used, I guess the previous owner never
sailed her, and since then we have added enough hours to get to 2500 on the
Perkins. No problems, just a new elbow a few years ago, and regular
maintenance. How long will it last, hopefully another 2500 hours.

Warren,
I am not Pat; however, I have the Perkins and still have the original
three blade prop---It works for us, so why change? We use the boat quite a
lot, but need to motor very little-----so in 15 years, we only have 255
hours on the perkins..
I change oil/filter once a year (friends joke that they want my 'old' oil
to use in their engines).  Afraid to say it but have never had a
problem---changed the impeller a couple of years ago and still have trouble
keeping the alternator belt tight, but once a years---we tighten it.
When we need to use the engine we just run it up to 2800 and reach hull
speed and enjoy the quiet motor boat cruise.

>Don't you just love those quiet Perkins? I have over 700 hrs and I run it
at 2500 most of the time. I use to run it at 3500 with the 3 blade fixed
but the Gori 2 blade folding is over pitched as they always do so over
3200 it smokes like Mack truck but I like the increased speed on low wind
days. Change oil twice a year and use the boat year round in Texas.

Pat, I am interested to know how many hours you have on your Perkins, how
> you typically run it (what rpm, ect.) and how often you change oil/filter.
