Oddly enough, I had installed the Blue Sea 8080 panel on my C25. It, too,
provides dual independent switching. It predates the e-Series (5511e). From
what I see, the difference is the 8080 provides a separate main breaker with
two separate switches, one for each bank. I don't see why the yard would
recommend the 8080 over the 5511e. I don't see the advantage of having a
main breaker in our setup. Neither did Catalina. At $165 (sailnet.com) vs.
about $45 for the 5511e, I believe the 5511e solves the problem as you have
two circuits switched at the same time. I don't know why you'd need/want to
have one circuit on and the other off. I've not experienced the need for
that.
Call Blue Sea Systems (no. on their web site bluesea.com) or try e-mail
them. See what they say. Also, ask the yard for a reason.

Warren:
The local installer also supports the BSS ACR combiner. He too thinks your
suggestion of upgrading the battery selector switch is a good one. He
suggested a BSS M-8080 rather than an e-series model. Could you suggest the
advantage of the e-series that would cause me to opt for it over the M-8080?
