[C320-list] Propane System Brass or Bronze - Does it Matter?

Late Monday afternoon I opened the propane tank in preparation for our first
dinner on the hook of the season - to a whooshing sound. I determined the
problem was a crack the length of the brass coupling between the gas
regulator screwing into the tank, and the system pressure gauge. The
immediate result was using the microwave and new inverter for the first
time.

Having visited Home Depot, The Electrical and Plumbing Store, Barbecue and
Fireplace and Parts Center and the local contractors plumbing store the best
I could find is a bronze coupler of appropriate thread and thickness. Is
this a safe solution or do I need to continue the search for a brass
fitting?
