I still have some checking to do but I have been told that Tappan discontinued this model and I haven't found anything that fits into the space that this one is in.

Exactly!!  Bill, we have the exact same problem.  I used it once last summer for 
popcorn and now the light comes on and the timer works, but no heat.  Must be a 
bad model.  After contacting Tappan, people at Catalina Yacht, Seaward (that 
installed them), I'm back in touch with Warren Pandy at the Catalina Yachts 
location in Largo, FL.  I just talked with him yesterday.  He will probably use 
a different brand for replacement.  Our boat was still under warranty when I 
discovered it no longer worked so we will not have to pay for the replacement.
