Karl,

If you look at that part number you'll notice it's a 24 volt version of the
buzzer. Mine was working intermittently and I replaced it with a 12V version
which is the BRP4535S-12-CD. It's a lot louder than the original one and has
been working fine ever since. The 24V one will probably work but I think the
12V one is a better choice for a 12 - 14V system.

Bruce,

If John's tips don't help and the problem really is in the piezo buzzer
itself, I found my replacement at Allied Electronics.

Here are the details, which were available in the list archieves:

On #690 there is one piezo buzzer alarm which is wired for both high water
temp and low oil pressure.
There are 3 terminals on the back of it: Ground, single tone terminal (for
high temp), and pulse tone terminal (for low pressure).
I replaced my buzzer a few months ago, as it was working intermittantly.
The one I removed was labeled as Intervox BRP4535S-24-CD. A Google search
revealed one for sale at Allied Electronics
(http://www.alliedelec.com/Catalog/Indices/Products.asp) for $7.

A call to Seaward (562) 699-7997 might also locate the part as they built
the Yanmar engine control pod for Catalina.

Cheers,

I had exactly the same symptom this weekend on my Yanmar 3YM30 and
immediately dug into the control panel to find the culprit. (My circuit
diagram showed a 3 amp fuse in the panel that would have stopped the light
and the alarm which was my symptom). After an hour I determined it was just
a loose connector on the sender at the engine that a gentle squeeze with
pliers fixed. Lesson to self: check the easy things first.

On the plus side, I found that for the larger pedestal on my MKII, the
control panel gives great access to all the workings inside the pedestal.
I love serendipity!

Thanks Stephen.

I have added this manual, as well as a few others from their site to our
file inventory......
