[C320-list] Maxwell 500 Parts Diagram

I have a manual for the VW500, which is the Maxwell windlass with chain
wheel pre-installed at the factory. I will try to scan it sometime
later today. It has the blow up diagram you are looking for, and other
info you might find useful. I've provided some information below from
the manual in case you are in a big hurry. But you might want to wait
until you see it so you can see what other tips there might be regarding
lubrication, etc.

One tip I learned the hard way... Make sure that when you do the
installation that the chain stripper arm is on the bottom. The chain
stripper will not work properly in other positions, and can interfere
with using the chain wheel. My boat came with the stripper arm
installed in the wrong orientation and it took me a while to figure this
out so that I could use my chainwheel properly. You may have to remove
the deckplate and rotate it 90 degrees or 180 to get this orientation.
I had to remove the motor and gearbox to make this change, and removing
/ reinstalling all of this was the hardest part of the entire job. While
you are at it, this is a good opportunity to renew the oil in the
gearbox, and to shorten the mounting studs, which come much longer than
needed to mount on a 320.

Assuming you have the deckplate and motor / gearbox assembly installed
the remaining parts go on the shaft in this order:

bushing

ring seal

clutch cone - lower (attaches to shaft with a grub screw)

chainwheel

clutch cone - upper

drum

clutch nut (which is the large round plate that threads onto the shaft
and takes the clutch lever)

retaining washer

screw

cap

Note that there are two keys that go into keyways on the shaft.
