Jim,
I have hull # 219 and after two years in the water it became apparent that the water line must be changed---I had the yard put the boat on stands and sanded, washed and prepared the boat for a new bottom with the bottom paint going up to the top of the former blue stripe (above the white stripe). After now twelve and one half years the "new" higher level of the bottom paint has served us with a nice non-growth area and we are happy with the results--especially after many years of re-doing the bottom paint and being very happy with the end result.

Its time for a haul out for the bottom to be painted. After 14 years of
scraping the grass on the port side every few weeks, because the water line is
to low with the port list, Its time to finally give in and raise the bottom
paint line. If Iam not mistaken catalina raised the boot stripe on later
models because of this.
Here is what I am considering:
option 1: raise the bottom paint (blue) up to the bottom of the blue boot
stripe, and eliminate the small white stripe between the bottom paint and
boot stripe.
Option 2: Paint the small white stripe with white bottom paint.
If anyone has done this or has any other suggestions ( other than putting
more beer on the starboard side to eliminate the list) please let me know
Thanks
Jim
