Hi Jon, typically a gauge like this would only react this way if there was a loose connection. Check the wiring harness at the back side of the engine as well as the wire on the sender itself for corrosion.

Does anyone have any experience with this Gauge? I replaced my old style
engine pod this weekend (another interesting project) and when I tested
everything, I found the High Temp gauge to be 'sticky'. That is, it moves,
but it does so in a jerky fashion. Now I don't trust the reading. I know it
is not the thermostat and I double checked the wiring (all other gauges work
fine so if it were wiring I would have more than one not working). Any idea
whether I can adjust the sensitivity or try something else before I order a
new one from Seaward? Thanks in advance..

Regards,
