Does anyone have a favorite product for cleaning old grease during a winch service?

OK, just returned from the boat. When you haven't been there for two months,
things seem a little
different. And when you are sitting around thinking of what you might do the
next day, well what can I tell you, questions come up. The instructions for the
stove, and the oven are in deed on the inside of the oven door. And I can now
tell you, when followed, they work. So to all who contributed to the discussion
last night, thank you.
A special thanks goes to Orlando for sending the stove owners manual.
Happy sailing

Actually, the instructions say to light the right-side burner and let it
burn for about one minute. Then depress and hold the start button while
applying a flame under the pilot burner. It takes a while, 30-60 sec, for
the heat to reach the fail-safe oven valve before the pilot will burn on its
own. Once the pilot stays lighted without the application of a flame you may
release the start button.

The only thing I would recommend to add is that the oven is a lot easier to
light if you get gas flowing to one of the burners first. Thus, light the
burner and run it for 30 seconds or so, then light the oven.

Occasionally I do have some technical expertise to share on this list. Not
often, just occasionally.

That would be - not exactly!

The red button for the oven is held in to turn on the gas to the pilot light
which you must manually light either with a match or a lighter. After the
pilot is lit, you must hold the red button in for about 30 sec or so until
the relay heats up to allow the gas to continue to flow. Once the pilot is
lit, then you can turn on the stove.

OK, maybe I do need a refresher -- cause I haven't used the oven in two
years. I'll start there.

But I know I've used it once or twice. The first mate used to fix biscuits
and gravy. She hasn't been
going out. So I want to make sure I can at least do biscuits this year.
hehehe

I'm pretty sure the gas starts to flow by pushing the oven knob in, and then
you hit the red striker
to lite it. But what do I know?

Have you read the instructions?

That might be step 1... :)

I'll be going to the boat tomorrow and I'll give this another shot. So are
you saying that it doesn't
work like the burner striker? So, turn on the gas tank, turn on the power
panel switch, turn on the
oven gas, hit the striker and the pilot light will come on. Problem is the
striker does not snap. No snap
no current to light the gas.

But I'll try it again and report back. Good idea to call the manufacturer.

Crap, I just reread..the oven striker is passive, you have to have the
propane flowing, push the oven striker down and light the pilot

Has anyone had to repair/replace the red oven striker? Mine doesn't want to
work.
When I push on it, nothing happens. Anything special to get it going?

Thanks,
Paul
