Bill

I just purchase my 320 last year used and I went back and forth on the decision.

I purchased the deep keel simply cause the boat was a deal. I club race nothing serious but there is another 320 and he has a wing. Here is my take.

Racing
I do point higher than he does even though he has a new set of race sails and mine are original. But down wind he seems a bit faster I believe this has to do with less wieght and drag.
So I feel if your not racing seriously not the biggest gain.

Cruising.
I sail in the LI sound and although mostly deep it leaves me further out in most anchorages.

I believe its the old adage about every boat is a compromise.

What I can say that is I have been sailing for years and the 320 is the best boat I have ever owned and I did more sailing last year than any other season. You can't go wrong.

1) you can go everywhere with the Wing Keel ........... it seems that Wing
Keels are very popular in many parts of East Coast USA ...
2) you will point a few degrees higher with a Fin Keel ... if your sailing
waters permit, and you want to race, a Fin Keel is the way to go... it is
6'3" vs 4'4" ...
so the main constriction is to do depth of the water you will be sailing in.
