[C320-list] Chesapeake Raft-up

Bruce Stumpp and I, and many others, often go into Swan Cr. and anchor.
There is plenty of water and there are often some 35' and up boats in there.
There is 6 to 7' of water near to the turn and back maybe half way to the
marina heading N up the creek. However, there are some shoals mostly on the
E side out from the duck blinds. Favor the center to W side. Just to be sure
we are on the same page, I refer to the part of the Cr. to port as you come
to the turn. If you turn to stbd you head toward Haven Habor Marina and
Ospray Pt. Yacht Club and marina. Stay away from 4th of July fireworks in
Rock Hall as this part of Swan Cr. is packed with boats many of them power
boats on short chains.

I'm sure Rod, and others slipping on Swan can give a better account.  I'm
not at all shy about going in there, just careful about my position and
swing.

Scott - I used to anchor in Swan Creek quite a bit years ago with a 4-foot
draft and always had 3 or more feet still under the keel.  I would not
hesitate to take the 320 in there although I never have. - Allan

I'm interested although my summer work commitments are so up in the air
that I might not know until last minute whether I could attend.

I've never taken my 320 into Swan Creek, although I have thought about
it.  I used to go in there on my parent's old Bristol 29 in the 70's and
80's, but she only drew 3 feet with the board up.  My impression is that
there are now lots of moorings, and not much deep water.  Is there
enough room in there for a raft up, with sufficient water depth and no
moorings to cause trouble?

Dave Nolte's suggestion of Eagle Cove on the Magothy is another good
choice, although it can get pretty crowded on weekends.

Other North Bay possibilities:  Fairlee Creek (but I haven't been in
there for a while either), or the Corsica River or Langford Creek off
the Chester (two of my favorites, with plenty of space and deep water,
not to mention great scenery).
