Mike,
Perhaps I am being too simple, but can you not remove the offending part and screw a small teak (or plastic) "rib" that will replicate the original function--I did this on our hull 219 after I BROKE the 'rib' by pulling too hard.

Has anyone replaced their companionway sliding hatch? I have hull #401 and
it's smoked plexiglass slider has failed and needs replaced. I worked with
Catalina for a replacement. Catalina confirmed that they had the mold and made
one for me. (new style made of fiberglass with installed window) The problem is
that they molded a protruding rib on the entire perimeter of the underside of
the slider and this rib catches on the support track that the hatch rest and
slides on. (my support track is not continuous, it catches on the aft track as
you pull it back from the complete open position) Or as you initially push the
hatch forward as you are installing it from the cockpit, the sliding hatch drops
and locks into the closed position and then does not allow the hatch to be
pushed forward into the open position. Either way, the under side rib is
causing the hatch to "drop and lock" in the closed position.
