C stands for diesel use.
S stands for gasoline use.

Warren is correct. "CD" is obsolete. Use the latest letter of the alphabet you
can find for the second letter. We're up to at least CJ by now. I don't know
what the "C" stands for other than maybe Commercial.

The manual says to use API class CD/SE oils; but, I believe these are
obsolete codes. I've been buying 15W40 in class CF and CJ at a local auto
store. Most later diesels are higher performance engines so I assume the
newer oils are OK. I'm attempting to verify this with Saber-Perkins.

Gang

Wanted to ask what weight and brand Eng oil is being used out there.

I have used both Chevron 30 weight in the past but over the last 2 years I
have used Chevron 15-40w. I sail into Dec on the Chesapeake and the multi
grade does make starting easier.

Like to know what other are using.
