I had a similar problem with the end of the boom chaffing the top of the
bimini.  The solution was to have a sailmaker shorten the leach of the
main sail by 6".  This raised the end of the boom 6".  Now when sheeted
in tight, the boom is clear of the bimini.  In retrospect, I should have
shortened the leach by a couple more inches, as if the main is not
hoisted snug, the boom still makes contact with the bimini.  The slight
reduction of sail area does not make any difference in performance.  As
ours was not a stock bimini, it would do you well to measure the distance
from the head board to the top of the bimini and then subtract a couple
more inches to be sure you have enough clearance.
