I replaced my two flooded 4d's spring of '08 after five years on the previous set.  When I did the change I also replace the orig. Flyback charger with a new Xantrax 20 with temp sensor and monitor.  

My winter routine, or my friends as I'm in Punta Gorda FL, is to plug-in the boat AC system once each month for a day.  This seems to be just the right prescription for the flooded 4d's.  One note here is that while the boat is in Milwaukee, it is stored inside.  I have a temp monitor inside the boat and last spring it said the lowest temp. the boat was 30dF, I'm sure that if stored outside there would be some negative effect to the batteries.
