[C320-list] Gear Lube Oil?

My Yanmar guru said to use straight SAE 30...the same stuff that  goes in 
your lawn mower.  You can find it anywhere...Walmart for  one.

So what do people use for the gear oil?  The same  oil as the engine, or

the marine gear need a special kind of oil -  someone told me it needs
automatic transmission fluid - but not sure I buy  that  one?
