[C320-list] Broken Impellar

Kurt,
I have had three vanes missing (don't ask) without any problems on my Perkins engine.  I was able to locate them in the heat exchanger and discard them.  My vanes were small enough to not block too much water flow.   OBUOY #219,  Ken Cathey

I opened up the water pump to replace the impellar and noticed one of the vanes is missing.  I could not get to the heat exchanger to open it and look for the missing vane.  What is the best case scenario and the worst case scenario if I don't do anything?

I have the 3YM-30 Yanmar engine.  Does anyone know how to remove the alternator to get to the front of the heat exchanger?
