[C320-list] trailer and hauling

Like the last poster Brownell. Yes to the wing and yes to all the mast work. Again that is each way. I think it helps price wise that I pull in Mattapoisett (sp) which is Brownell's home port so I'm not paying to over the road the crane for the mast and extra road miles for an empty truck. I believe the ramp in Plymouth is deep enough for Brownell's trucks though or save the road miles and sail through the Canal and about 1.5 to 2 hr's south. They have moorings available to sit on for a day or so in each direction. Most of the drivers have been doing it for a long time and keep stress to a minimum (when I had a c22 it was way more dramatic with my own trailer then it is now with the c32wk and Brownell). Just be sure to have a plan (don’t forget to put the items on the top of the mast before they lift it like the antenna, windex, raynav, gull trips, etc) and inventory pins, tape etc before hand. On the way out sit on the mooring remove sail, boom-vang and boom loosen stays and straighten cotter pins so it all goes quickly. On the way in do the reverse in the water on the mooring or town dock if it's not too busy. Also FYI if you have the Yanmar MACK Boring the Northeast Yanmar dealer is in Middleboro and there mechanics make house calls. Not cheap but you know they know the engine and do good work. You will also have to drop the dodger to make legal road height.

I'm about a month away from going back in. I just need to do my annual paint and clean. The down side about it being home is you can't get lazy and just call the yard. But High school kids will wax for cash sometimes.

David,
I am in Plymouth, MA harbor. Who do you use for hauling?
Does the same firm pull the boat and drop the mast?
Do you have a wing keel?
Is there any slope up or down to the pad you use at home? I think there is some slope limitation for big rigs?
Are you saying the full job is $700 or is that just the mileage for the 35 miles?

I have my boat hauled home every fall. It takes an 18 wh rig road weight is about 56000. But the good news is its still cheaper than keeping it at the marina and it includes taking the mast down and up.
About 7 bills each way and the distance to home is about 35mi. I'm in SE mass.

Don't know where you are, but take the boat some place else to have it hauled.
That's what I do. I sail her 35 miles away from the marina where I dock.

It is closer to home and cheaper for winter storage.

I'm considering having a yard trailer made. Not interested in hauling the boat down the road but would like to be able to pull the boat in the fall to do bottom work, waxing etc. Our marina is not equipped to pull sailboats without dropping the mast and this is not only expensive but it is a real PITA. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
