[C320-list] Microwaves (again)

My 15 yr old microwave stopped working. Had the same problem of size. I
ended up having it repaired for $90. A new unit, could I have found one that
fit might have been one half the cost of repair. Ahhh, the lamentations of
the boat owner.

I spent about 10 years as a bench technician, servicing televisions  
and microwave ovens.  Parts are readily available for both if you know  
what you need.  While Daves' oven repair was merely a dirty cable, I  
offer the following caution when working on a microwave oven:  There  
are very high voltages of about four thousand volts DC (used to run  
the magnetron which creates the microwaves that cook the food) within  
the power supply sections (usually located directly aft of the control  
(keyboard) panel of microwave ovens.  One MUST be extremely careful  
when delving into these areas.  Death or dismemberment can occur.   
Have a look at my left index finger sometime-I got lucky.  I'm not  
saying don't DIY, but if you're uncertain of your abilities regarding  
electricity and electronics, and there's a cost effective replacement  
solution available, then go the replacement route.  Besides, JiffyPop  
is still available, if that's the primary use of your microwave oven  
onboard.
