Jack,
Can't hear my Xantrex 20, replaced Pro Mariner piece of junk 6 years ago. You might want to contact Xantrex because in my experience and of others who have listed it is practically silent. Maybe a defective unit?

We replaced our Promariner with a Xantrex 20. Unfortunately the cooling fan is
a bit loud. I don't know that I woud go with a xantrex again if I had to
replace the battery charger. Has anyone else had the same experiance?

Thanks

In case you're interested, I'm using a Charles 40 amp charger. I got a catalog
from Ferris Power Products recently with a sale on rebuilt Charles 40's for
under $300. New price has too many big digits in it to say within earshot of my
wife. :)

It's always something.....so my battery charger went this weekend while
plugged in visiting a marina. House bank tanked, then the reefer
wouldn't start, etc.

The boat had a 30 amp ProMariner I think was original ?

My battery set-up is a house bank of (4) group 27's in parallel on #1
setting, and a group 24 starting battery on #2. All wet cells.

I am clueless about electrical, and still working on the temperature
gage thing posted earlier.....

The yard manager (at Haven Harbor) recommended a Xantrex True Charge 40,
but they didn't have one, so I haven't done anything yet.

Any input is appreciated on the following:

How do you size a charger, based on batteries ? (30 amp, 40 amp, etc.)

Anyone recommend for or against Xantrex or other brands ?

Will my house bank recover ? (I had like 11.6 amps when I realized the
problem in the morning)
