[C320-list] Reefer Power

Pat - I am also interested in the same thing - I would much rather have solar than run the engine (or a generator) to replace electrons. Please keep me posted on what you do.

I am not sure if all the c-320 reefers are the same ? Also, from what I've read, cycling and therefore amp draw will vary with ambient temp.,how full the box is, how often you grab a cold one, etc. Our fridge is an alder barbour cold machine mounted in the port laz. From rough guess experience I think 40 aH sounds a bit low, and I estimate mine is more like 50-55 amp-hours in a 24 hour period. This also takes into account the increased draw at cycle start. Again, I don't have a meter either, so just an estimate based on my battery draw down.

This plus the usual misc. draws - lights for a few hours, anchor light, maybe a radio - I estimate my daily requirements at about 90 amp-hours total load. I'd like to do a solar setup to put close to that back. I have been looking at panels and controllers, but do not yet understand how to interface it all yet. Lets trade notes if you pursue.

I have the same experience as Karl. I timed the on/off cycle many times and
believe it runs 8 hours out of 24 hours.
So, the draw at 5 amp is 8*5= 40 amp hours per day.
