[C320-list] SS covers over turnbuckles

We drilled about a 1/8" hole in both the top and bottom cap to allow water to drain and evaporate.

Got tired of finding them full of water after a rain, sail and washdown as well as during the winter layover.

We always lift them and rinse them with fresh water when we are putting the boat away after a sail.

John, I also noticed when I slipped my ss cover off turnbuckle a number of
them collect water. Are you experiencing the same problem. Looks like a
design fault. It appears there is no avenue for the water to escape past the
lower cap. Does anyone have any suggestion? Perhaps a groove in the lower
cap or a drilled hole in the lower part of the ss cover might work. Peter "

I'm getting ready to go over my rigging later this year but this is my first
Catalina with these SS covers over the turnbuckles. I don't really like
them, but I understand their use. What is the best way to take the SS
covers off ? And is there anything else I need to know before I start work?
Thanks, JOHN Holokai 2
