[C320-list] Christmas

I have considered making a new fridge top all together by getting a new piece of solid surface that fits the whole opening.

From there cut enough of a chunk off the port edge so that the large piece can be hinged at the back edge and open (like it does today). The small end piece could be loose like today, but will be much smaller, or possibly even perm sealed in place if there was good enough access to that area.

Maybe have a fiberglass guy make an insulation shell for the underside, and install good gas risers and an appropriately positioned handle and now you have pretty much full fridge access in one shot.
And while we're at it add LED lights that come on when the door is opened.

Hey, why not? We're all off spending all this virtual cash!

Cheers.

There is usually more than one way to skin a cat. We mounted hinges on the
port edge, the outboard narrow edge and that seems to work fine. We also
found that when the port lid is open, you can also open the aft cabinet door
under the refer lid and it holds the refer lid open. An unexpected benefit.

Port side needs to float because of the cabinet above which would not allow
hinged lid to fully open

Mike,
Interesting.  On our refer we have hinges on the starboard side lid but the
port side is floating.  Wonder if they both were floating when they came
from the factory.

Sorry all, got off on a tangent with the Nav station / galley splash shield
(I'll take some pics and post them soon).
Amanda Lu got hinges for her refer lids.

Mike/Allan,
I'm so glad Diane does not watch this list!  Though I could have done the
DIY approach and had enough money left over to fill the lazarette up with
sponges.  Instead I probably funded Catalina employees Christmas party.
Happy holidays everyone!

Check out ePlastic.com for a 2' X 4' X1/4' sheet of Plexiglass material.
The sheet cost about $80 including shipping.  Following directions, also
internet supplied, I bent the Plexiglass with small propane torch to follow
the Nav station contour.  Fastened the panel with 4 #10 ss screws and it
came out nice.

I've learned to suspend all business sence when it comes to our boat and
habit.  Since it is the lap top that typical lives at the nav station I'm
not sure HP considers a sponge as an acceptable dewatering device.
Merry Christmas.

Bruce - Do you have any idea how many sponges you can buy for $200? (Grin!)

Jim,
I stopped by the Catalina factory in FL this Wednesday.  They gave me a
quick tour and I ran into Gerry.  They say that it is compatible with our
boats.  Costs just under $200 including shipping to CA.  They have to make
it so I probably won't get it till the first week of the new year.
Best,

Does the splash guard fit the Mk I and where did you get it?  Thanks.
