I replaced the joker valve. Although not a pleasurable experience in the 100 plus degree days we've been having on the western LI sound it was quick and seems to have worked.

Thanks for the help on to the water pressure problem.

Martin,
As you discovered, most things do not wear out, they just become clogged or plugged.
However, I do not enjoy working on the potty-----so, I replace everything when I have to do anything-----costs me more, but extends the time before I must do it again. I do try to extend the life of most things by carefully following the maintanence schedules. (my autos have 350,000/295,000/279,000/180,400 miles all maintained to minimize expense).

I have the Jabsco manual head, and I thought I needed a new joker valve (symptom was waste water flowing back into the head after pumping)  I ordered one, and will probably replace the existing valve when the new one arrives.  However, I found that by taking the valve out and cleaning it, and then carefully cleaning the seat on the discharge plate, the leak was eliminated.  So do be careful to clean the area where the valve fits against the discharge tube.
