If you belong to a YC their are lots of great clubs that do reciprocals, for free.  Usually only for 2 or 3 5ays but we like that as you get to move around and see different parts of the area.

The San Diego Harbor Police at 619-686-6227 have slips available at Shelter 
 Island on a first come, first serve basis.  Give them a call from 7:00AM,  
to 4:00 PM.  They are closed for an hour from 12:00 noon till 1:00.   If 
you are coming in on a weekend, ask them about anchoring at La Playa.   La 
Playa is an anchorage inside Shelter Island.
