 To the folks having transmission shifting problems:

You may want to check the fitting at the end of the shifter cable where it attaches to the transmission. There is a pin there which fits into a hole in the tramsmission shifter lever, it should be free to rotate in this hole and well lubricated.

I recently had the problems you describe and the pin on the shifter cable was corroded solid onto the shifter lever. The cable broke off at the transmission end and it is a very time consuming and expensive procedure to replace the cable.......all of the steering needs to be removed believe it or not!
