I once had old cushions steam cleaned at a commercial laundry in Bristol, RI.  It helped the fabric but did not do much for the old foam within - as expected.  Rollie  #182

It shouldn't be a problem if the covers are removed, washed in cold water 
setting with  mild cold water detergent or Woolite and tumble or line dried. 
I haven't done ours, but  I have done so on older boats with far less 
durable fabric. I always air dry to minimize shrinkage.
