[C320-list] Yanmar Heat Exchanger

Hi Dave,

I've done this and it is trivial. Found a leaf in mine. :)

1. Close eng. Thru-hull
2. Empty the exchanger using the little drain thingy on the aft end of the exchanger. (Optional, especially if you've had the impeller out)
3. Remove 4 nuts from the exchanger's front side and remove the end cap.
4. Be careful of the rubber gasket

No springs, ball bearings or monkeys will fly out at you. Pretty easy. I didn't need any replacement gaskets but if yours are damaged, you might.

The thermostat may also be the culprit. It's on the engine AntiFreeze side, so its a bigger job. If you've changed the AF recently you could have an air block but that would cause the temp to go up a lot most likely.

Thanks. Actually, I was thinking of just yanking the core (pop the two end
caps and push it out) rather than pulling the whole exchange assembly from
the block. I think I saw that approach suggested in a shop manual I have
around here somewhere.

Does that make any sense based on your experience?
