The Westerbeke is self-priming as long as you fill the filter and get
most of the air out -- Don't know which hulls had this engine -- not
many -- we are # 322

Easy.?
?
1. Shut off the fuel. Port rear access, look on top of the fuel tank
towards the front. - is on + is off.?
2. Find a container. I use a small aluminum baking pan 3X6 and mold it
to fit under the Racor.?
3. Get some paper towels a strategically position them around the pan
to make sure fuel doesn't get to the wick hole.?
4. Twist off the entire unit, (Easier) and drop it into the pan.?
5. Move it out and tip the contents of the racor into another
container, or same container whatever you want to do.?
6. Clean up the racor head with paper towels making sure all the fuel
and "whatever" is off.?
7. Take the racor assembly topside and disconnect the bowl from the
filter.?
8. Clean out the bowl.?
9. Re-assemble. Be sure to use both new gaskets.?
10. Put a thin layer of diesel on both gaskets.?
11. Fill with fresh diesel fuel.?
12. Screw the new filter back on the racor head.?
13. Cleanup all traces of diesel in the work area.?
14. Bleed, start, check for leaks.?

Hello Everyone:?
?
Can anyone give me some basic advice for changing the Racor filter?
Also, should the fluid in the clear bottom cup be drained periodically.
How do you re-prime the system, and is this necessary??
?
Thanks for your help in advance.?

I use this approach except for the #2. I simply use a gallon zip lock bag
and place it around the racor. Twist it off and let the bag catch the
fuel....

All:
You are da men.and women. At the board's suggestion I replaced my impeller
this week, even though it had very low hours over its two years of service.
You suggested that it represents cheap insurance. Two of the blades were
half cut thru at the hub. It was ready. You were right.
Thank you.

Hi folks,
Just advertised some surplus gear on the C320IA website.
A SensorMax VSD freshwater high volume fresh water pump and a set of 1 year
old engine mounts.
See: http://www.catalina320.com/classifieds/index.php/home/3
Cheers

In most cases it's not the actual engine runtime but chronological
time that takes its' toll on the impeller. The blades of the impeller
take a set over time, and any winter layup when the impeller sits idle
(sometimes at below freezing temps) doesn't help. What you never want
is for one of the blades to break off and get sucked into the internal
cooling system piping. I inspect yearly and change my impeller every
two years. Cheap insurance.

For some reason my emails are bouncing from the list. This is why I am
trying a reply. Not to step on anyone's message.
I would like to replace my jib halyard, am a cruiser, not a racer. Looking
at Sta-Set 3/8" $0.79/foot. Any recommendations appreciated.

Has anyone had an issue with Catalina Direct?
I ordered a tachometer in March. It was charged to my credit card
promptly, but as of today, almost two months later, no tachometer.
I've followed up by phone twice. The calls were handled courteously
promising to look into the issue and call me back by the next day. No return call
was ever made.
Anyone know the president of the company and how he or she may be
contacted?
Thanks, Jim DeLong #453
