[C320-list] Changing Engine Belts...

I plan on changing my engine belts this season. Although I've regularly had
to loosen the raw water belt to change the impeller, I've never had to
loosen the alternator side. Additionally, given these will be new belts they
are going to be stiffer. My question is can this be done without a belt
tensioner? I'm comfortable with knowing the right tension, I'm just not sure
if I can achieve this without the use of a tensioner. Thanks in advance.
