We had ours done, didn`t take the shaft out. 3.5 hours all up.
But that is in Australia, we might be more inventive

Subject: [C320-list] cutlass bearing replacement

I'm having a bottom job done on hull #500, 1998 model. The cutlass bearing
is being replaced at the same time. The yard is saying (after the fact)
that they've had to put six hours into pulling the shaft, they now have that
done, but they think that they might need to pull the rudder to get the
shaft out of the strut. Does this sound right?
