Haven't tested that. I wouldn't use them upwind (either of them) because the load is great. The other risk is the shock load of an accidental jibe. I prefer using both winches in either circumstance and the jammer if one winch is needed for a spin halyard. Jammers have been fine for that and I rarely use them.
