One great improvement to this process is to get a foot long piece of copper tubing to feed down the dipstick hole.

The tubing for plumbing an Ice maker is perfect. It will go directly to the deepest spot in the oil pan and not curl around like plastic hose does. Also it has a thinner wall so it allows faster oil flow.

This tip came from the Mac Boring tech guy.

Jack

After hand pumping for years (miserable process) I just bought a hand drill powered pump.

I am doing my change on sunday and will let you know how it goes.

I suppose everyone has figured out his/her own system for extracting oil from the Yanmar diesel. But, for what it's worth ...

This fall I bought a 2.9 quart Outboard Motor Oil Extractor from West Marine. Although it's designed for outboards, there didn't seem to me to be any reason it wouldn't work on my 3GM30F. And there isn't any reason. It works like a charm.
