[C320-list] Clean Propellers

Jeff,
I have been using a metal marine paint primer, bought at WM, along with my bottom paint every year on the shaft and prop. I get very few barnacles and it does not seem to effect performance.

The best cure for barnies on the prop is to use the prop. If it sits it'll grow stuff. Maybe run the engine in gear, fwd and back for a few minutes every time you're at the boat.

We had lots of prop barnies this year. Never had an issue in the past. Must be the unusually warm water this year in the northeast US.

Anything that doesn't form a good bond with the metal will wear off within a few hours of motoring. I grease the gears on my Gori 3-blade folding prop with thick marine gear grease and the gears are *totally* free of grease when I haul 6 mos later, and they are fairly protected. I find it hard to believe that anything would stick to the blades themselves for long unless it had a great bond to the metal.

My opinions of course.

I used to have one zinc, but it was usually mostly gone at haulout so
I went to two. No paint or anything else. Sounds like Paul has a
good idea, though.
