Most definely go wit ha remote mic at the helm.  I did not have one on my
310 and used the handheld VHF then.  Having the remote mic a the helm on my
320 was a prerequiste when we trade up 4 years ago.  Being able to hear
clearly and transmit from mast mounted antennae really extends the listening
and broadcasting rancge.
