[C320-list] Shower Sump

We had the same problem with our sump.
Tried everything - you can access (only just) the hose & clamp at the sump
by lifting the screwed down cabin sole panel just in front of the engine.
The problem ended up being the pump - the factory fitted pump on our boat
was actually a freshwater pressure pump not a sump/bilge pump.
Our local Jabsco / Ruling distributor told us that it was completely
unsuited to the task and claimed that we would be back again in a couple
of years if we were to replace it with the same one.

We took his advice and replaced it with a sump pump. No need for a strainer,
self priming so no need for non-return valve in line, doesn't matter if it
runs dry and best of all clears the sump in a tenth of the time the old one
used to take even when it was working at its best.

Jason,
Make sure all of the connections are tight and leak free, including the
strainer. If their is a leak the pump will not be able to generate enough
suction to prime.

Subject: [C320-list] Shower Sump

Hello all.

I'm having some issues with my shower pump not draining on my new to me 2001

320. I have opened the dual head shower sump through hull and the pump seems

to run when I flip the switch in the head, but the water never goes down.

There is a y valve that appears to be set correctly but I'm not sure what's

on the other side of that valve.

One thing that I notice is that there is a strainer before the pump and
after the sump. I removed the bowl expecting there to be some liquid but it

was totally dry.

I have to be missing something obvious.

Jason
